Orr Shalom Children’s Homes

Gottfried Müller always felt a strong connection to Israel and the Israelite people. That is why he played an important role in the founding of the Israelite charitable organisation Orr Shalom. Established in 1980, Orr Shalom is a non-profit that rescues children who have been removed from their homes by the social welfare services following severe abuse, neglect and tragedy.  By providing safe, loving homes and educational, psychological and material support, Orr Shalom enables the children in its care to break the cycle of abuse, overcome their pasts and prepare for life as independent adults.  Today, over 1,300 children aged 0-18 live in Orr Shalom foster families and homes across Israel where they receive professional help, unconditional love and an opportunity for a better future. In addition, they provide support for another 160 18-27 year old graduates with no family backing.  In August 2013 Orr Shalom received the Israeli Presidential Award for Volunteerism from President Shimon Peres.
