SALEM-Togo
For many years SALEM-Togo has devoted itself to improving people`s lives and to protecting their environment. In collaboration with a local community we plan to grow an exemplary sustainably cultivated forest.
The livelihood of many people living in northern Togo is threatened. With your support, the SALEM Education Centre, with its own demonstration and experimental areas, could be extended to a include sustainably cultivated forest.
Sustainability in the cultivation of woods, as it has been practiced in Europe since 100 years, is scarcely known in West Africa. With your help we would be able to demonstrate in practice that natural woodland can be both protected and used long term for the welfare of local people. In collaboration with a local community we plan to grow an exemplary forest of 30 hectares.
