SALEM-Uganda

Since it was founded in 1981, SALEM-Uganda has been helping children and young people who have been orphaned, abandoned, neglected or abused. We can only carry on this project thanks to the kindness of those who sponsor and support us in our work. There is no social welfare in Uganda to help needy children.

Who do we help?

  • Children who have been orphaned, abandoned, abused, or who live in poverty, who need protection because nobody else is willing to take care of them.
The SALEM Children’s and Babies’ Home helps them to grow up in a loving atmosphere.
  • Children who can’t expect to go to school get the chance for education. This includes financial support to obtain text books, school uniforms or even boarding school admission if this is the only option for them.
  • Children growing up in poverty in the villages next to SALEM, will be assisted to avoid any effects of malnutrition. We also provide them with basic articles, such as soap, bedding, and clothes.
  • Young people in distress get financial support to be able to learn a profession and be responsible for themselves and their families. During the last years SALEM has sponsored the training of nurses, doctors, carpenters, construction workers, and electricians. We also maintain our own school for tailoring.
